A Crocodile

150 million years of being the same;
King of the swamp, of reptilian fame.
Long and green, short arms and legs,
Comfortable wet, uneasy in Greggs.

Crocodiles swim at 25 miles per hour,
Bathe constantly so have no need to shower,
Only ten percent survive to adulthood,
Doesn’t pay taxes, not sure if it should.

Eats only meat, birds and fish,
Can grow more teeth by whim or wish,
Of the Phylum: Chordata, class: Reptilia,
Scaly and scary, hard exterior.

13 species at latest count,
Snappy dressers by most account,
Cry fake tears, a tremendous smile,
I do quite like the crocodile.
