Mythical Misconception

My mother was a mermaid and my father was a centaur.

Her beauty lured sailors off ships,
Her perfume was eau de ‘and chips’
His gallop was fast and lasted hours
He wore cardigans and beige trousers.

I got my mothers human half
and I was always more babe than calf
But I should be careful what I wish,
I could ended up half horse, half fish.
